My name is Matt and I love to eat. I also used to be very fat, but I’ve lost a lot of weight. And I’ve kept it off. That doesn’t mean that it’s easy. Over the course of this blog I will try to explain what I’ve done and how my experiences (and struggles) can help other people develop their own healthy habits.
There’s a lot to cover about my life so far and how I’ve changed. Here’s the quick overview.
- Born in Berkeley, ate crazy healthy (macrobiotic) as a kid
- Moved to Seattle, stopped eating crazy healthy, ate a lot of frozen pizzas and potatoes (and got fat)
- Went to college, gained the freshmen fifteen and then some (I weighed 300lbs at my heaviest the summer after my freshmen year)
- Started cooking and broadening my food horizons my sophomore year in college (285lbs ish at the end of the year)
- Continued cooking my own food and started seriously working out my junior year in college (265lbs ish at the end of the year)
- Graduated from college in 4 years with a BA in finance (245lbs on graduation day!)
- Moved back home and refined my diet and exercise habits and started working full time (230lbs by January)
- Stagnated at 225lbs after I started working full time
- Further refined my diet and workout routine and I’ve hovered around 215 since January of 2009
Thanks for your blog, I like your posts! Inspiring story.
